Dr. Fred Luter (SBC President) & Alberto Bent

A quick snapshot of who I am, in 80 words or fewer.  I am a guy who, although an unworthy candidate, GOD has chosen to use to help people move from just being casual church attendees to those who worship GOD authentically and with passion.  I love the LORD and nurturing my relationships with GOD and Becky, my wife.  sports – particularly soccer (Go Sporting KC), studying the Word of GOD, and playing music (keys & sax) just for fun.

When did I first realize my desire to lead others in worship?  In 1997, when approached by former pastor, EJ Barnes of Gashland Baptist Church, about filling as the interim worship leader.  After having led worship for a couple of months I had a pretty good idea that GOD was going to use me in that ministry somehow.  At that point I had no idea it would turn into full time ministry.

Worship:  Pastoring GOD’s people and the worship of GOD are my passions.  Through over 17 years of worship ministry in two churches, my goals have been to: (1) give GOD my true, passionate, and authentic servant worship, (2) give spiritual care to those GOD has entrusted to me, (3) use the arts, and technical aids to help build up a church of true, passionate, and authentic servant worshipers, and (4) extend the reach and influence of the local church into the community at large for the purpose of building bridges into the world that will help bring the message of the gospel to those who have yet to become followers of Jesus.

Discipleship:  I love studying the Word of GOD and using the many tools available to me through the arts and technology to bring the timeless message of the Bible alive to the Church and for our culture.
